Christmas post
In the Orthodox churches of the Byzantine tradition, the Christmas fast is one of the four many-day fasts of the church year and serves as a 40-day preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Christ.
Christmas fast is observed from November 28 to January 6 inclusive and ends with the feast of the Nativity of Christ on January 7. The conspiracy (the eve of the Lent on November 27) falls on the feast day of the holy Apostle Philip (the apostle Philip martyredly ended his earthly journey – he was crucified upside down), which is why the post is also called Philippov. Nutrition in the Orthodox post
Fasting with Christians is a time of restraint and humility, a period of spiritual preparation for a particular church event. Fasting and prayer are like two wings, thanks to which the soul, like a bird, ascends to heaven, leaving behind everything earthly and material. Fasting involves complete or partial abstinence from animal products, and for many people such abstinence is a rather difficult test.
However, it is precisely due to various restrictions in food and in earthly pleasures that each person cultivates a spirit in himself, which should govern the human body, and not vice versa.
In the Christian tradition, there are several types of fasts – multi-day, one-day, and those that a person imposes on himself in preparation for holy communion. Continue reading
Great Lent
Lent is the longest and certainly the most important for Orthodox Christians annual multi-day fast. It lasts 49 days, 7 spring weeks, and takes place at different times, since its beginning and end depend entirely on the date of Easter, which changes annually.
Determining the date of Easter is a rather complicated calendar-mathematical operation, calculated on the lunar-solar calendar. Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the first spring full moon, which came after the day of the vernal equinox. Moreover, the full moon and equinox are understood not as astronomical phenomena, but as dates obtained by calculation. The method of calculating the date of Easter is called Easter. Continue reading
I want to cleanse the body
Each of us sooner or later asks the question – is it necessary to make special efforts to cleanse our body? Environmental pollution, the abundance of additives in food, unpleasant statistics of dangerous diseases and other factors make us understand this topic.
In principle, the human body, as a complex self-regulating system, is able to independently clean itself of toxins. It is for these purposes that we have the lymphatic system, liver, kidneys, intestines and skin, which throw away everything that can harm the body. But the natural forces of the body are not always able to cope with this task – either in connection with the above factors, or simply because of age. Cleaning systems are overloaded, organs become clogged and cease to function normally. As a result, there are constant headaches, an earthy complexion, digestive problems, it is not clear where the allergy came from and other troubles. Slagging can cause more serious problems, which become more severe as the body becomes contaminated, including pathological changes in cells and the formation of tumors. Continue reading
I want to slow my aging
The growth of the human body ends at the age of 25, and the aging process begins immediately. To slow down or stop it altogether is a dream not only of scientists and philosophers who have been trying for centuries to find the “elixir of youth”, but also of each individual person. About a century ago, the science of gerontology arose, studying the biological, social and psychological aspects of human aging, its causes and ways to deal with it. A lot of scientific and pseudo-scientific theories of aging have arisen, over which whole gerontological institutes work, created in almost all countries of the world. There are a lot of theories describing the causes of aging – a change in the regulation of gene activity, a decrease in the synthesis of intracellular regulators of plasma membranes, a decrease in the length of telomeres (end sections of chromosomes), the concept of stress-age syndrome, etc. Continue reading
